Adding to the quilt is easy as pie:

As new government entities and acts are created to better protect American citizens from the ravages of a terrorist world, we can all rest snugly and smugly. Eternal vigilance is truly the price of peace, and federal spending has us collectively covered. While most of us feel proud to have our money fund schools, infrastructure, care and protection of the environment, and benefits to veterans, the amounts allocated today to military defense are unprecedented. More than 47% of all taxes will be allocated for military matters. This percentage does not include any part of the $87 billion for the Iraqi reconstruction plan President Bush announced in early September, nor does it include any of the funds for the war in Iraq. Show the real cost of our security blanket. Help construct a virtual quilt depicting how US tax dollars are spent.
